Motor Vehicle Accident Involving a Bus - 8901 Whaleyville Road

At approximately 1605 hours, Showell was alerted for a Motor Vehicle Accident at 8901 Whelyville Road. As units responded, Central advised the accident involved a car and a large bus. 800-Paramedic 1 and Engine 803 were first to arrive on scene where Firefighter 823 took Whaleyville Road command. On-scene personnel began to investigate the call and immediately called for ambulances from nearby departments. Medic units from Showell, Willards, Berlin, Selbyville, Bishopville, and Ocean Pines responded to the call. Fire police were requested from several nearby departments to assist with traffic control. A total of 12 patients were traiged accordingly and transported to AGH. After investigation it is believed that the driver of the bus rear-ended a car attempting to turn into the Animal Hospital, causing the bus to then drive into a nearby ditch. Showell Units on scene- Engine 803, 800-Paramedic 1, Rescue 8, Brush 8, Utility 880, and Engine 804.
