At 1554 hours, Showell was alerted to 8908 Ebenezer Road for a large brush fire, which was reported to be roughly 10 acres on fire. As 803 responded, a large cloud of smoke could be seen in the distance. Firefighter 891 arrived on the scene and took temporary command where he asked central to begin alerted surrounding companies for tankers and brush trucks. Engine 803 arrived on scene and reported a large brush fire with heavy fire. Firefighters pulled two lines from Engine 803 to begin extinguishment. At this time 850 arrived on scene and relieved 891 from command. Several other companies were alerted from deleware as well as Bishopville and Berlin from Worcester County. Forestry was also asked to respond to the scene. As the fire progressed, units focused on the tree-line to stop the fire before it spread into the trees. With effort from several departments and local farm equipment, the fire was extinguished. Showell Units on scene: Engine 803, Brush 8, Tanker 8, 800 A-2, Utility 880, and Engine 804.
