Showell Volunteer Fire Department

At approximately 1900 hours Monday night, Units from Showell and Powellville met up with Berlin Fire Department to assist with a control burn of 2 Chicken Houses. Engine 803, Utility 880, and all Powellville Units were placed on one controlled burn, while Berlin handled the other with Showell Tanker 8 assisting. The Chicken House was lit off using a flare and was controlled to keep from spreading to any nearby exposures. The cadets as well as some younger members were given the chance to watch how quickly fire can engulf a structure, as well as learn some basic fire department techniques.
