In the early hours of the morning, Showell was alerted at 0147 hours to respond to a public service call in River Run. Engine 803 responded from the station with a crew of 6; arriving on scene to meet a couple reporting that their smoke detectors are going off all throughout the house. 851 established River Run Lane command. As one member checked the control panel for the alarm system, other members entered the home to check the detectors themselves. The cause was believed to have been caused by dead batteries; which serve as a backup in the event of a power outage to the home. The alarms stopped and after advising the homeowner to change the batteries out in the morning, 851 released 803 from the scene and terminated River Run Lane command. Units on scene: Engine 803. - We would like to remind everyone to please check their batteries in all detectors throughout their home at least once a year, and dont be afraid to call for help from your local fire department if assistance is needed.
