Assisting Ocean Pines with Residential Structure Fire - 686 Ocean Parkway
Sunday, February 13, 2011

At approximately 1338 hours, Ocean Pines was alerted to respond to a reported chimney fire on Ocean Parkway. As Ocean Pines units arrived on scene, the call was upgraded when the fire spread into the walls and into the attic. As Showell responded to assist with Engines 803 and 804, Ocean Pines requested Berlin to respond with a tower truck which was then cancelled as the fire deteriorated. Crews began interior attacks to the fire focusing on the attic area. Ventilation was needed to properly extinguish the fire and to reduce the smoke in the structure. Bishopville responded to Ocean Pines South Station to serve as a standby crew until units cleared the scene. After the fire was extinguished, Overhaul was started to check for any hidden fire. After the structure was deemed safe for fire departments to clear, all units were placed back in service and command was terminated. 800 units on scene: Engine 803 and Engine 804.
