Assisting Berlin with House Fire - 10033 Friendship Rd. Berlin, MD 21811

At approximately 1222 hours on Thursday evening, Berlin was alerted to respond to a reported structure fire on Friendship Rd with dogs and a man possibly trapped inside. After police arrived on scene, they advised Berlin Fire Department that flames were showing from multiple areas of the structure. At this time Worcester advised that reports stated the possibly trapped man had left earlier that morning and was not home; however the dogs were still inside. Berlin arrived on scene and asked Worcester to dispatch other departments to assist. Showell, Ocean Pines, Newark, Powellville, and Ocean City Fire Departments were alerted to assist. Crews entered the structure to control flames and search for the dogs. Two dogs were rescued. With the help of several departments the flames were extinguished and the Worcester County Fire Marshalls Office began investigation. Fire departments remained on scene to perform overhaul and assist the Fire Marshall's. After overhaul was completed Berlin released all units from the scene and terminated Friendship Rd command with the exception of "Command 6" who remained on scene with the Fire Marshall's. Showell units on scene: Engine 803 and Tanker 805. The cause of the fire at this time is unknown.
