Residential Structure Fire- Backside of House Fully Involved - 204 Charleston Road- Salt Grass Cove

At approximately 0159 am, Ocean Pines was toned out for a residential Structure Fire at 204 Charleston. Showell was alerted for 2 Engines to respond. As units responded, the caller advised that the family woke up and found their house on fire. Engine 1102 and Engine 803 arrived on scene first and reported that the entire backside of the house was engulfed in flames. One 2 1/2 Inch line and 1 3/4 inch line were sent to the back of the house to begin controlling the flames. After most of the severe parts were knocked from the backside, crews entered the structure to further extinguish the fire. A tanker and a Tower from Berlin was requested to come to the scene to assist. Once the fire was knocked, crews left the building so that Truck 11 could douse the fire from the roof, which was were most of the heat was. After all known fire was extinguish, crews entered the building with tools and a Thermal Imaging Camera to search for hidden sources of heat. Several "Hot Spots" were found in the process and extinguished accordingly. The Fire Marshall was alerted to respond as well. Red Cross was alerted to assist the family. Crews were on scene for about 4 hours before clearing the scene and returning to the Station. Bishopville responded with an Engine to Standby at Station 600.
