Residential Structure Fire- Asisting Ocean Pines - 7 Gatehouse Trail

At 1908 hours, Ocean Pines and Showell Fire Departments were alerted for a Residential Structure Fire at 7 Gatehouse Trail. Upon arrival heavy smoke was evident as well as heavy fire in the rear of the structure. Engine 1102 was the first company to enter the structure and begin an initial attack. Engine 803 followed and was requested to attack the fire from the exterior Bravo-Charlie corner. Berlin, Bishopville, and Ocean City Fire Departments were alerted to respond to the scene as well as a crew from Station 88 (Selbyville) to standby at Station 800. Other crews began attacking fire from all sides of the structure, as well as a crew sent to the roof to begin ventilation. Heavy fire was surpressed from the rear of the structure and after all noticable fire was extinguished, overhaul was began. At this time the Fire Marshall arrived on scene to begin investigation. The source of the fire is beleived to have originated in the rear of the building, although the cause at this time is unknown. Units from Ocean Pines, Showell, Berlin, Ocean City, and Bishopville were on the scene. The Red Cross was also alerted to assist the homeowner.
