Control Burn - Collins Rd.
Tuesday, April 12, 2011
On Tuesday evening, Showell firefighters and cadets drilled by control burning several brush piles for a homeowner on Collins Rd. Engine 804, Brush 8, and Utility 880 met at the scene to begin burning the piles. Controlled burnings are a great way to teach cadets and new members how fire evolves and grows, as well as multiple aspects of the fire apparatus. 852 had control over the controlled burn, and after the brush had burned down to a safe amount, the fire was left to be monitored by the homeowner and units returned back to Station 800.
